Coronavirus update 09 March 2020
We inform you that, in compliance with the new provisions of containment of the epidemiological emergency stated in the new Prime Minister's Decree of 8 March 2020, and in consideration of the new measures to limit the spread and contagion of Coronavirus, in order to protect public health, the following is disclosed:
all destinations for the Holy Land and Jordan are canceled until April 3, 2020. All other trips included in our schedule will be arranged regularly;
The Presidency of the Council of Ministers of Italy has suspended the opening of the museums and other places of culture referred to in article 101 of the code of cultural and landscape heritage. Therefore, also the Archaeological Park of the Colosseum which includes the Roman Forum and the Palatine Hill will be closed until April 3, 2020;
The Holy See Press Office communicates, according with the measures passed by the Italian Authorities, that certain measures have been taken to avoid the spread of Covid-19 to be observed in the Dicasteries and other Entities of the Holy See or connected to it and in the Governorate of Vatican City State. These measures "include the precautionary closure, until April 3, 2020, of the Vatican Museums, the Excavations Office, the Museum of the Pontifical Villas and the museum centers of the pontifical basilicas". The Catacombs are closed as well;
Opera Romana Pellegrinaggi in accordance with the provisions issued by the Prime Minister and in line with the provisions of the Holy See has decided to temporarily close until 3 April 2020the offices of Piazza Pio XII, of Via Dei Cestari, the Mamertine Prison, the Sancta Sanctorum, the Cloister and the Museum of Saint John Lateran, the ORP offices at the Basilica of Saint John in Lateran, and the Crypt of Santa Maria in via Lata.
The Open Bus service is suspended and access to St. Peter's Basilica is temporarily interdicted.
